Tomato Lab LLC is a creative studio specializing in production and post-production of original film content.  We take pride in crafting unique work -- namely narrative & documentary films, music videos and commercials -- that inspires and empowers.

Founder Philip Knowlton has steadily been making a name for himself in the video/film world since starting out as an assistant editor at Oscilloscope Pictures in New York, working alongside the late Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch .  His signature style of blending documentary storytelling with stylized music video aesthetics has earned him recognition in magazines like Communication Arts and garnered praise from publications like AdWeek.  As a commercial director he has worked with clients like Nike, Vice, Google, Beck's, Jetblue, Under Armour and agencies such as JWT, Anomaly, and Mullen among others. His most recent feature documentary, Lift Up, filmed in Haiti shortly after the 2010 earthquake, won several awards including the Documentary Directing Award at the Amsterdam Film Festival.  Tomato Lab was founded in 2013 and is located in Los Angeles, CA.

There is no greater feeling as a director than seeing a project through from conception to final edit, and knowing that your creation has the potential to affect viewer’s lives – whether to make them laugh, cry, get angry or be inspired. I take great pride in making films that portray the power of the human spirit.
